Framework Agreement for Clinical Communication Tools for NHS Organisations
What is it?
With all NHS Trusts having to phase out pagers by the end of 2021, NHSX required a Framework Agreement to be established to procure communication services. NHS Trusts can, therefore, award contracts to experienced and suitable suppliers who can deliver against a number of requirements and promote innovation.
Pando Control is fully covered by the Framework, giving organisations access to all the core features of Pando plus an Admin Control Centre, organisation analytics, data trail audit access and an extensive, ongoing support package.
Who can apply?
The Framework Agreement is for the use of NHS England and Improvement, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Primary Care Networks, NHS Trusts, NHS Special Health Authorities and all other NHS organisations. A list of all organisations can be found here.
The commissioner awarded a total budget of £3m to the framework which is open (valid) for 2 years with a potential extension for 12 months.
How to apply
The Framework Agreement allows an organisation to Direct Award their chosen service.
The full cost of Pando Control is covered by the Framework Agreement.

Organisations working with Pando
Pando is trusted by over 65,000 UK healthcare professionals.
If we were a hospital, we’d be the biggest in the country.
Started by doctors, Pando is designed for professionals who need to communicate securely about the people they look after. Next to delivering features that benefit health and social care professionals individually, Pando offers a wide range of benefit to NHS organisations.
Pando is a secure, fit-for-purpose alternative to social messaging apps, such as WhatsApp, which are ubiquitously in use across healthcare organisations. It is assessed as safe and approved by NHSX as a clinical communication tool.
Pando saves professionals time, which translates to faster clinical decision making, patient transfers, and fewer delays in investigations and treatments. These benefits are a direct result of more effective teamwork.
Pando supports gold standard clinical care by instant access to specialist advice and support. This, in turn, reduces the number of referrals and outpatient appointments.
Saves each partner £6.9m
This is the average saving per hospital over a five year period following implementation. Pando has a track record for successful implementation – we take care of launch and troubleshooting.
Staff who use Pando report significant increases in workplace satisfaction, are feeling more connected and are able to deliver better patient care. Pando continuously receives the highest ranks in customer satisfaction scores.
What our partners think…
One of the best organisations I have worked with in 20 years in health tech. The uptake has been steep and quick, and we have seen WhatsApp use reduce nearly as quickly, which is down to the comfort clinical teams have with the app.
Pando meets NHS England’s security standards set out in the recent white paper.
Pando has really changed how we work at Medway and we are proud to be one of the first Trusts using the app. It is another great example of how we can use innovation to improve the patient experience.
